HOUSTON, TX – Rarely do I get my haircut on a Saturday. The lines are long and who wants to spend 1-2 hours in a barbershop on a Saturday? I wasn’t sure if I could make it on Tuesday before my next adventure so I found myself walking over to Big Kat’s Barbershop & Shave Parlour.
Along the way, actually a few feet from the door, I ran into the owner Big E. I’ve been going to this barbershop since February and I hadn’t had much of a conversation with Big E. I only knew his name because he spotted me at Big Top Lounge and said to me, “Hey man! Where ya goin? Wanna have a shot with me?” To which I replied, “Why the hell not?!” He of course recognized me from being a regular patron at his shop. I didn’t realize how friendly and lovable the big guy is. We had a shot of Fireball and then he scatted off to handle the business of the wonderful party that was going on.
Fast forward to this Saturday morning. I walked up to Big E and thanked him for the libations a week prior. I then noticed that there was some commotion going on in the parking lot. I asked him what was the occasion. He told me that he was having his annual car show among other festivities. I asked him could I take pictures for him. He answered, “Of course. I’d love for you to!”
It was my pleasure. I got to look and explore the inner workings of these fabulous old cars. Some finished and some not-so-finished. lol
Here are my photos. Hope you enjoy.
